Abstract:
The article explores the evolution of managerial approaches in Ukraine’s construction sector in the context of the transition from the traditional corporate social responsibility (CSR) model to the expanded strategic ESG 2.0 conception. The relevance of the topic stems from the need for the Ukrainian construction industry to adapt to the requirements of European integration, the European Green Deal, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and the conditions for accessing international financing in the process of postwar reconstruction. The study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the transformation of managerial approaches in Ukraine’s construction sector, identify the key drivers and barriers to implementing ESG 2.0, and substantiate the role of digital tools as the basis for transparent and efficient management. To achieve this objective, methods of theoretical generalization, retrospective and systemic analysis, legal and regulatory analysis, content analysis of corporate materials, and case studies were employed. The article demonstrates that restricting CSR primarily to instrumental and reputational approaches does not address the current challenges of the construction industry. It is shown that ESG 2.0 involves integrating environmental, social, and governance principles into strategic managerial, operational processes, and companies’ investment decisions. The practices of leading Ukrainian developers and industrial-construction groups are analyzed, revealing a gap between declarative statements and the actual implementation of ESG tools. Special attention is given to the role of digitalization and innovative technologies – BIM, digital twins, and the DREAM ecosystem – as instruments to ensure transparency, accountability, and managerial efficiency in reconstruction processes. It is substantiated that without a transition to ESG 2.0, Ukrainian construction enterprises face increasing strategic and financial risks, including the risk of losing access to international financial resources. The research findings can be used in shaping development strategies for construction companies, formulating industry policies for sustainable development, and enhancing project managerial mechanisms for Ukraine’s postwar reconstruction.

Keywords: CSR, ESG 2.0, construction sector, sustainable development, digitalization, postwar reconstruction, innovation, risks.
