Abstract:
This article explores the impact of economic inequality on Ukraine’s social security, particularly on the socioeconomic stability and the standard of living of the population. In the context of globalization and contemporary challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the ongoing war, and economic crises, the level of economic inequality in Ukraine has become one of the primary factors affecting social security and the well-being of citizens. The relevance of this study stems from the need to identify and address social problems facing Ukraine amid global challenges, as well as to find ways to reduce economic inequality through improved government policy and the development of social initiatives. The aim of the article is to examine economic inequality in Ukraine as a factor that directly impacts the country’s social security. To this end, the theoretical aspects of inequality and its manifestations in Ukrainian society have been analyzed. The authors draw attention to the importance of studying economic inequality through available research, statistical data, and reports from international organizations, as well as national institutions that assess the level of inequality in Ukraine. One of the key aspects is identifying social groups most vulnerable to economic inequality: people with disabilities, low-income population groups, pensioners, and internally displaced persons. Their access to healthcare, education, and opportunities for economic activity is limited due to unequal access to resources, which creates additional social risks. Special attention is paid to analyzing the causes of economic inequality in Ukraine, among which are low income levels for the majority of the population and high unemployment. The study showed that reducing economic inequality can enhance social security. The article is important for understanding the relationship between economic inequality and social security and for developing recommendations to improve the socioeconomic situation in Ukraine. The issues and proposals can serve as a basis for further research and for developing government policy strategies to ensure societal stability.

Keywords: economic inequality, social security, social protection, labor market, vulnerable groups.
