Abstract:
The aim of the article is to examine the essence of the digital economy, substantiate its key principles and structural components, and identify its impact on the socioeconomic development of society in the current conditions. The article outlines modern approaches to understanding the digital economy, defined as an economy based on the use of information and communication technologies and other innovative digital technologies, as well as the formation of new relationships and interactions among people in the digital environment, which shapes a buyer-driven market and leads to the emergence of innovative business models in the processes of production, distribution, exchange, and consumption in the socioeconomic development of society. The key principles of the digital economy are highlighted: systemic approach, innovation, social interaction, openness, co-creation, targeting, personalization, speed, convenience, accessibility, inclusiveness, competence, cybersecurity, and institutionalization. The structural components of the digital economy have been identified: the ICT sector, digital technologies, electronic business, and the digital environment, which are shaped by innovative digital ecosystems. It has been shown that the digital economy is a dynamic process in which the connections between social entities and ideas grow significantly, facilitated by the digitization of information combined with the Internet. A new level and form of connection, as well as new consumer behavior patterns in the digital environment, lead to the creation of numerous combinations of new types of activities and products. The digital economy integrates all types of economic activity in the process of societal digital transformation and positively influences the development of digital industries and socioeconomic growth, with key factors including entrepreneurial initiative, innovation, and human capital. Further research will focus on examining the effects of the synergy of these factors in the digital economy.
