Abstract:
The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of managing the economic development potential of enterprises producing livestock products, which is considered a key factor in ensuring competitiveness and the sustainable development of Ukraine’s agricultural sector. The authors reveal the essence of the category «economic development potential» as an integrated dynamic system of resources, competencies, and capabilities that ensures adaptation, transformation, and long-term growth of an enterprise in a changing market environment. It is demonstrated that under conditions of increasing market competition, price instability for feed and energy, and heightened requirements for product environmental friendliness and safety, the formation of an effective development potential becomes particularly important for stabilizing production activities and enhancing the operational efficiency of enterprises. The specifics of the livestock sector have been identified, where the potential for economic development is shaped by the interaction of internal and external factors such as production and technological conditions, human resource potential, resource base, government support, export-import policy, and environmental constraints. A mechanism for managing the potential for economic development has been proposed as an integrated system that combines resources, managerial influences, planning tools, financial control, risk management, and enterprise performance outcomes. It is emphasized that the effectiveness of this mechanism depends on implementing strategic management principles focused on innovation, system approaches, adaptability, and environmental sustainability of production. Key management principles have been formulated to ensure the coherence of managerial decisions, improve labor productivity, rational use of resources, and enhancement of enterprise potential. Promising directions for strengthening the potential of livestock production enterprises have been identified, including the implementation of innovative technological solutions, digitalization and analytics, development of human resource potential, enhancement of financial stability, environmental transformation of production, and expansion of export opportunities.

Keywords: economic development potential, livestock farming, management mechanism, innovation, adaptability, environmental sustainability, digitalization, competitiveness.
