Abstract:
The article examines the strategic foundations for the development of green logistics in trade enterprises in Ukraine under the conditions of globalization of supply chains, strengthening environmental regulations, and growing demand for fast delivery. It is substantiated that green logistics is transforming from a separate environmental area into a comprehensive management conception that covers transport, warehouse infrastructure, energy supply, packaging, the last mile, and reverse flows. The evolution of scientific approaches to interpreting green logistics is revealed – from the greening of transport to an integrated strategy of decarbonization, resource efficiency, and circular management of logistics processes. The methodological basis of the study consists of systemic, process, institutional, comparative, and strategic approaches, as well as case analysis of practices of international and Ukrainian companies. The experience of Amazon, DHL Group, IKEA, Geopost, and JD.com regarding delivery electrification, the use of renewable energy, packaging optimization, the development of reusable solutions, and the reduction of logistics emissions has been analyzed. It has been determined that the development of green logistics in Ukraine has a specific character, since alongside decarbonization, energy autonomy, continuity of logistics service, and adaptation to wartime-related risks become important. Special attention is paid to Ukrainian cases such as Nova Poshta, Fozzy Group, and METRO Ukraine, which demonstrate the gradual implementation of energy-efficient, low-carbon, and environmentally-oriented logistics solutions. Key constraints on the development of green logistics in Ukraine have been identified: high financing costs, infrastructure and energy risks, incompleteness of the regulatory framework regarding packaging and waste, insufficient standardization of environmental KPIs, as well as a contradiction between business environmental goals and consumer demand for ultra-fast delivery. A cascade strategy for the development of green logistics in trade enterprises is proposed, which involves a sequential transition from the diagnosis and measurement of logistics emissions to quick low-risk measures, the testing of targeted investments, and the scaling of a circular model. The practical significance of the study lies in the formation of a model of green logistics adapted to Ukrainian conditions, which combines ecological modernization, reduction of operational costs, energy sustainability, and increased competitiveness of trade enterprises in global and European supply chains.

Keywords: green logistics; trade enterprises; strategy; development; supply chains; decarbonization; energy efficiency; packaging; reverse logistics; circular economy; sustainable development.
