Abstract:
The article summarizes the study of key aspects of project financing in the context of the tools for implementing sustainable development goals. The main aim of the article is to study the theoretical and practical principles of the activities of banking institutions in project financing through the clarification of international practice of introducing systemic approaches to the use of debt financial instruments in order to implement national sustainable development goals. Systematization of literary sources and scientific approaches to determining the issues of implementing sustainable development goals demonstrate a clear tendency to focus attention on the intensification of the processes of implementing project financing in a global dimension and cooperation of actions of the State and international financial institutions towards the implementation of sustainable development goals. The relevance of solving this scientific problem lies in the opinion that there is a high need for project financing for the implementation of national sustainable development goals, in particular, and insufficient development of methodological issues regarding the use of the capabilities of international banking groups in this direction. The presented cross-border case of the participation of banking institutions in international project financing of sustainable development is studied in the context of clarifying the theoretical and practical aspects of the activities of banking institutions in project financing through clarifying the international practice of introducing systemic approaches to the use of debt financial instruments in order to implement national goals of sustainable development. The following methodological tools are used in the work: the dialectical method of cognition, as well as the evolutionary-systemic approach to the analysis of economic situations and phenomena using the principle of unity of the historical and logical, and methods of comparative economic analysis. The study empirically confirms and theoretically proves that the experience of efficient project financing of sustainable development is not limited only to the presence of an extensive network of State and partnership programs of cooperation with international financial institutions, but is also based on a developed banking infrastructure of the international financial market. In the cross-border aspect, project financing is largely implemented through powerful banking groups that have deep expertise in structured finance, risk management, investor attraction and provide high financial discipline, as well as institutional support and strategic coordination. The results of the study may be useful in the context of using project financing as one of the main instruments for implementing national sustainable development goals.
