Abstract:
The aim of the research is to develop the theoretical and methodological foundations for the industrialization and reindustrialization of Ukraine’s economy in the context of creating an efficient model for the country’s strategic recovery, as well as to substantiate the priority directions for modernizing production potential amid digital transformation, European integration, and postwar reconstruction. The research conducted allowed us to form a comprehensive scientific understanding of the role of industrialization and reindustrialization in the system of strategic economic recovery in Ukraine. Summarizing theoretical positions, global experience, and current trends in the development of production systems, it was concluded that in the context of growing global instability, industry is once again becoming a key factor in ensuring economic resilience, technological sovereignty, and long-term competitiveness of countries. It was found that modern reindustrialization significantly differs from classical models of industrial development. If traditional industrialization was mainly focused on increasing production capacities, modern reindustrialization is based on implementing digital technologies, automating production processes, using artificial intelligence, developing innovation ecosystems, and transitioning to green economy principles. In this context, modern industrial policy should be seen not just as a tool for economic development, but also as a component of national security. It has been shown that over the past decades, Ukraine’s economy has undergone prolonged deindustrialization, which has been reflected in a shrinking share of industry in GDP, a decline in the role of manufacturing, greater raw material specialization in exports, and a worsening technological lag. Unlike developed countries, where the decline in the industrial sector was offset by the growth of high-tech sectors of the economy, the Ukrainian model was characterized by a simultaneous weakening of both production and innovation potential. As a result, significant structural imbalances have formed, limiting the possibilities for sustainable economic growth. It is substantiated that postwar recovery in Ukraine creates a unique window of opportunity for transitioning to a new economic development model based on the principles of advanced reindustrialization. It has been found that rebuilding the economy should not be limited to simply restoring destroyed production capacities, but should be accompanied by their technological modernization in line with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the standards of the European Union.
