Abstract: The article examines the transformation of the global market for genetically modified (GM) crops in the context of growing food, climate, and technological challenges. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to identify emerging trends in the development of the global GM crop market, changes in the geography of production, and the increasing role of developing countries in the global agrifood system. Despite the considerable body of research devoted to the economic efficiency and regulation of genetically modified products, the processes of spatial market transformation and the emergence of new regional production centers remain insufficiently explored. The aim of the study is to systematize and assess transformation processes in the global GM crop market, identify changes in the territorial structure of production, and determine new development centers under the influence of economic, technological, and institutional factors. The methodological framework of the research is based on statistical, comparative, structural, and dynamic analysis, as well as the synthesis of data from international organizations and industry analytical reports. The results of the study indicate that global areas cultivated with GM crops increased from 179.4 million hectares to 209.8 million hectares during 2014–2024. The market has entered a mature stage of development characterized by a high concentration of production and the dominance of several major crops, particularly soybeans and maize. A gradual shift of production centers from traditional leaders toward the countries of the Global South, including Brazil, Argentina, India, and several countries in Asia and Africa, has been identified. The study demonstrates that Latin American countries account for nearly half of the world’s GM crop cultivation area, while the United States maintains its leading position in biotechnology research, patenting, and commercialization. Furthermore, the growing integration of GM technologies with digital solutions, precision agriculture technologies, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics has been revealed. The scientific novelty of the research lies in its comprehensive analysis of the contemporary transformation of the global GM crop market through the lens of changes in the regional production structure and the emergence of new agrobiotechnology development centers. The practical significance of the findings is associated with their potential application in forecasting the development of the global agricultural sector, shaping public biotechnology policies, and assessing the prospects for integrating innovative agricultural technologies into international food systems.
