Abstract: The aim of the article is to explore the essence of some updated approaches to making managerial decisions in project management based on heuristic and algorithmic approaches (which are supposed to be applied in enterprises in a certain tandem) while determining the effectiveness of enterprises’ operations using the models by Burennikova – Yarmolenko and their indicators based on SEE management. This requires modern approaches to heuristic decision-making strategies in enterprise project management with a corresponding assessment of the effectiveness of their operations using algorithmic approaches to managerial decisions. It is emphasized that in the field of project management, heuristic methods are seen as flexible management tools that allow effectively combining experience with new decisions regarding the effectiveness of enterprise operations. The use of an updated management paradigm in the context of the authors’ SEE management, based on performance indicators of certain processes and considering relevant heuristic strategies, has been proposed. It is emphasized that the strategy for managing enterprise operations based on components of certain process performance should be seen both as a set of specific measures, as results of calculating relevant performance indicators, and as a dynamic process of providing enterprises with necessary resources while taking external environmental conditions into account. The characteristics of algorithmic and heuristic approaches are provided. It is pointed out that heuristic methods are an integral part of the decision-making process in an enterprise. Algorithmic approaches in the author’s SEE management are based on a clear, logical sequence of actions that ensures obtaining an accurate result regarding enterprise effectiveness. It is underlined that a key methodological challenge for modern project management remains the divide between algorithmic and heuristic strategies. Algorithmization relies on formalized criteria and mathematical substantiation, ensuring objectivity in stable conditions, while heuristic methods, adapted to a manager’s cognitive limits and time constraints, perform better in dynamic project environments, where high uncertainty makes classical computational models somewhat less efficient. The possibility of a continuum is noted, suggesting transitions can exist between the two poles – algorithmic and heuristic strategies. It is emphasized that algorithmic and heuristic approaches should not be seen as opposites; combining them allows for managerial decisions that are both well-grounded and adaptable.
