REQUIREMENTS FOR ARTICLES
SUBMITTED TO
"BUSINESS INFORM" JOURNAL

NOTICE: Submission of a manuscript to the editorial board in any form automatically implies the author's (authors') agreement with the terms of the Licence Agreement and confirmation that the article is original, has not been previously published, and has not been submitted for publication to any other journal.

1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

1.1. Only original scientific articles that have not been previously published and have not been submitted for publication to any other journal (including electronic journals and preprint servers) will be considered.

1.2. Articles are accepted in Ukrainian or English. The editorial board strongly recommends submitting articles in English, as this significantly increases their international visibility and the citation indices of authors.

1.3. Articles written in English that are translations of Ukrainian-language originals should, where possible, be accompanied by the text in the original language. Such articles undergo a translation quality check. If the language quality is unsatisfactory, the article is returned to the authors. The editorial team also offers a translation service upon prior request.

1.4. The editorial board strongly recommends that authors align the topic and formulation of their research problem with current trends in international economic science.

2. ARTICLE STRUCTURE

2.1. All articles must contain the following mandatory structural elements:

Introduction - justification of the relevance of the topic; clear formulation of the research aim and objectives; a brief overview of the scientific problem.

Literature Review - analysis of current domestic and international research on the topic; identification of gaps in the existing scholarly literature that justify the necessity of the study.

Aims / research hypotheses / research questions – a clear statement of the study’s aims; the research questions to which the article provides answers; research hypotheses – where these are included in the methodological design.

Research Methods – description of the methodological approach, data collection and analysis methods, information sources, tools and software used (where applicable).

Results – presentation of the main findings and research outcomes, with reference to tables, figures and statistical data.

Discussion – interpretation of results in the context of the existing literature; comparison with findings of other studies; limitations of the research.

Conclusions – a concise summary of the results obtained, their scientific novelty and practical value; directions for further research.

2.2. Combining the Results and Discussion sections into a single Results and Discussion section is permissible.

3. METADATA

3.1. All articles must include the following metadata:

a) UDC and JEL Classification - mandatory identifiers for indexing the article. JEL codes are selected in accordance with the AEA classification system;

b) Article title - clear and informative, reflecting the content of the research and containing key words; recommended length: 8–15 words;

c) Full name(s) of the author(s) in Ukrainian and in English - the English spelling must correspond to the author's international passport or other official document. Consistent spelling of the author's name across all publications is critically important for the accurate calculation of citation indices;

d) ORCID iD of each author — mandatory. Authors who are not yet registered with ORCID must do so free of charge at orcid.org prior to submission;

e) Scopus Author ID and/or Web of Science ResearcherID – if available;

f) Full institutional affiliation of each author - name of the organisation, department/faculty, city and country in a standardised format;

g) Abstract - no fewer than 1,800 characters including spaces (detailed requirements — see Section 4);

h) Keywords - between 3 and 8 words or phrases.

3.2. When submitting an article, the author must also provide the completed Author Information Form (download here), which contains all required information in a structured format.

3.3. Metadata are published in the journal, on the journal website, and stored in relevant domestic and international bibliometric databases.

4. ABSTRACT REQUIREMENTS

4.1. The abstract length must be no fewer than 1,800 characters including spaces (2,000–2,500 characters recommended).

4.2. The abstract is submitted in Ukrainian and in English.

4.3. The abstract must be structured and include the following elements: what gap the study fills; aim of the research; methods (briefly); results (key findings); conclusions and scientific novelty; practical value (where applicable).

4.4. The text of the abstract must be: concise and clear; free from secondary or generally known information; comprehensible to a reader who is not familiar with the full text of the article; suitable for use in automated information retrieval systems.

4.5. The abstract must begin with the surname(s) and initials of all authors and the title of the article in Ukrainian / English.

4.6. When preparing the abstract, the editorial board recommends following the Emerald abstract guidelines.

5. KEYWORDS

5.1. The number of keywords or phrases must be between 3 and 8.

5.2. Keywords are provided in Ukrainian and English.

5.3. Keywords must accurately reflect the content of the article and facilitate its discovery in search engines and databases. It is recommended to select keywords that correspond to established terminology in the field and/or terms from the JEL classification system.

5.4. Keywords are separated by semicolons.

6. MANDATORY AUTHOR DECLARATIONS

6.1. Funding statement. If the research was carried out under a grant, targeted programme, or with the financial support of any organisation, authors are required to acknowledge this in a footnote to the article title or in a separate Funding section. Example: "This research was funded by [name of organisation] (grant No. ...)." If no external funding was received, the following statement must be included: "This research received no external funding."

6.2. Conflict of interest. Authors are required to disclose any financial or non-financial interests that could have influenced the results or their interpretation. If no conflict of interest exists, the following statement must be included: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

6.3. Use of artificial intelligence. The use of generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, etc.) in manuscript preparation requires mandatory disclosure in accordance with the journal's AI Use Policy. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of articles.

7. REFERENCE LIST REQUIREMENTS

7.1. The reference list must be formatted in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015.

7.2. The reference list must contain no fewer than 15 entries. A comprehensive and current reference list demonstrates the quality of the research and increases the confidence of reviewers.

7.3. Every source in the reference list must be cited at least once in the body of the article. The absence of in-text citations to a listed source may serve as grounds for rejection.

7.4. For all sources that have a DOI, it must be provided as an active hyperlink in the format: https://doi.org/10.XXXXX/XXXXX.

7.5. Self-citation should be avoided; it should not account for more than 15% of the total number of sources. Excessive self-citation may be grounds for rejecting the article.

7.6. The editorial board recommends avoiding references to: textbooks and study guides; limiting the use of literature sources older than 10 years (except for classic fundamental works and those necessary for researching the genesis of studies on a specific topic).

7.7. The proportion of English-language sources in the bibliography should be at least 30% – this enhances the article’s international visibility and demonstrates the authors’ familiarity with the global scientific literature on the subject.

7.8. The editorial board recommends that research be based on reliable, peer-reviewed scientific sources that are available in open access and indexed by international scientometric databases.

8. CITATION AND REFERENCING REQUIREMENTS

8.1. Authors are required to provide references to all sources from which materials, ideas or results have been borrowed. It is recommended to cite publications from the last 10 years.

8.2. All figures and tables must be accompanied by a reference to the source or an indication that the material is the authors' own: "Compiled by the authors" or "Constructed on the basis of [source]."

8.3. In-text references are indicated by sequential number in square brackets: [1], [2–5], [1; 3; 7].

8.4. Quotations must be reproduced exactly, placed in quotation marks, and accompanied by a mandatory reference to the source. Omissions within a quotation are indicated by three dots [...]. Authors' own emphasis within a quotation is indicated in parentheses: (italics added - I. I.).

8.5. References to internet resources must link directly to the specific document referenced (not to the homepage of a website).

8.6. Failure to follow citation rules (absence of quotation marks in direct quotations, absence of references to sources) may result in certain passages being classified as plagiarism and the article being rejected.

9. FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS

9.1. Articles are accepted exclusively as files in .doc, .docx, .rtf or .odt format. For convenience, authors may use the article template available on the journal website, which contains all required formatting elements.

9.2. Main text formatting parameters: Times New Roman font, size 14 pt; line spacing 1.5; margins 2 cm on all sides; text aligned to the width of the page.

9.3. The article, metadata, author declarations and reference list must all be contained in one file in the following order:

10.1. The article must include the email address of each author (to be published) and, where possible, the contact author’s telephone number (not to be published) to enable any issues that arise to be resolved promptly..

10.2. Where an article has two or more authors, one must be designated as the corresponding author. All subsequent correspondence between the editorial board and the authors will be conducted through the corresponding author.

10.3. Email addresses must be real and active, as these addresses serve as the primary means by which authors are identified within the international scholarly community.

11. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

11.1. The editorial board categorically condemns all manifestations of academic dishonesty, including: plagiarism (including self-plagiarism); fabrication or falsification of data; duplicate publication; and improper authorship.

11.2. All manuscripts are checked for textual borrowings using specialised software. Plagiarism is defined as the verbatim or paraphrased reproduction of another's text without proper attribution, regardless of the volume of the borrowing.

11.3. Manuscripts showing evidence of plagiarism are rejected at any stage of the editorial process. If plagiarism is discovered in a published article, the article is subject to retraction in accordance with COPE recommendations.

12. GROUNDS FOR REJECTION WITHOUT REVIEW
