Abstract:
The aim of the article is the theoretical substantiation and empirical analysis of the mechanisms for managing the strategic factors of the competitiveness of tourist destinations, using the example of the city of Lviv, and determining their role in transforming potential resources into sustainable competitive advantages. The study employs a system approach, which allows for considering the tourist destination as a complex open system with interconnected resource, infrastructure, social, and managerial elements; a comparative analysis is used to identify differences and common features in the competitiveness of tourist destinations in the national and regional context; a structural analysis is applied to build a mechanism for managing the strategic factors of destination competitiveness. Additionally, content analysis of information sources and practical initiatives is used, which contributes to systematizing management and marketing mechanisms for enhancing the competitive advantages of destinations. Approaches to defining the concept of «strategic factors of the competitiveness of tourist destinations» have been considered based on the analysis of foreign and domestic research, and an authorial definition of this concept has been proposed, which takes into account the multidimensionality of resource, managerial, institutional, and socioeconomic elements. Managed and unmanaged factors have been identified, and their impact on the formation of destinations’ competitive advantages has been substantiated. A mechanism for managing the strategic factors of tourist destinations’ competitiveness has been developed and empirically tested using the example of the city of Lviv. The role of managerial decisions, investments in tourism infrastructure, marketing, and information tools in transforming potential resources into sustainable competitive advantages has been analyzed, which allowed the identification of efficient management practices and development priorities for the city as a tourist destination. The prospects for further research involve improving models for managing the strategic factors of tourist destination competitiveness, evaluating the effectiveness of these managed factors in transforming resource potential into sustainable competitive advantages, and adapting best practices for other regions of Ukraine.
