Abstract:
This article analyzes the genesis of scientific research on turbulence and uneven economic growth of countries, specifically from 1945 to the present. Two main stages of economic development are identified: the period of prosperity (1940–1973) and the period of turbulence (since 1974), characterized by increasing instability and uncertainty. A bibliometric analysis in the field of economic turbulence was conducted, revealing the growth in the number of scientific publications in this area. The highest activity was observed among scientists from the USA, China, and the United Kingdom, while Ukrainian researchers have made a limited contribution. The main characteristics of a turbulent economy are discussed, such as high volatility, unpredictability, and interdependence between sectors. The study highlights financial instability, technological shocks, and the impact of «black swans» – unpredictable events that can significantly influence economic systems. Crisis phenomena in the economy are classified, and the characteristics and features of types of economic crises are summarized according to the complexity of their resolution. A classification of economic shocks is proposed. A scheme showing the interconnections of events affecting the country’s economy is developed. The necessity of enhancing countries’ economic resilience for efficient response to new challenges and adaptation to changes in the global environment is substantiated.

Keywords: turbulence, instability, unevenness, economic growth, economic development, economic system, economic resilience, «black swans», financial instability, shocks, crises, bibliometric analysis.
