Abstract: The article examines the transformational processes underway in Ukraine’s electricity sector through the lens of Schumpeter’s conception of «creative destruction». It is substantiated that the global energy transition, combined with the catastrophic consequences of the ongoing war, forms a unique configuration of factors that simultaneously destroys the sector’s established, largely Soviet-era structures and opens space for fundamentally new forms of entrepreneurial activity. The study reveals the paradoxical nature of the current energy transition, in which record investment in clean energy coexists with record fossil-fuel consumption, deepening strategic uncertainty for business actors. Methodologically, the research rests on a synthesis of foresight, oriented towards generating multiple alternative images of the future, and the theory of strategic entrepreneurship as the simultaneous pursuit of market opportunities and competitive advantage. On this basis, the authors propose an original set of sectoral development scenarios up to 2050, ranging from Ukraine’s transformation into a «green hub» of Europe to the inertial entrenchment of technological backwardness, and systematizes priority directions for sustainable entrepreneurship. The article contends that the scale of destruction caused by the war makes it economically rational not to restore obsolete infrastructure but to replace it with a modern low-carbon architecture, since modeling shows that the additional costs of the decarbonization scenario are minor and can be offset by climate finance. Given the identified structural imbalance between generation and consumption, the study defines strategic guidelines for entrepreneurship seeking to combine economic efficiency with sustainability imperatives amid the uncertainty of postwar recovery.
