Abstract:
The article examines the international experience of postwar economic reconstruction and identifies opportunities for its adaptation to the conditions of Ukraine’s economic recovery. The relevance of the study is substantiated by the need to develop an efficient model of postwar development under conditions of increasing geo-economic instability, transformation of global value chains, and limited domestic resources. The aim of the article is to generalize key approaches to postwar reconstruction and to substantiate directions for their adaptation in order to ensure sustainable economic development of Ukraine. The research is based on comparative analysis, systemic approach, generalization, and structural analysis of international reconstruction experience. The study analyzes classical models of postwar recovery, particularly the experience of Germany and Japan, as well as modern approaches to the reconstruction of economies affected by armed conflicts. It is determined that the key factors of successful recovery include efficient public policy, international financial support, institutional reforms, infrastructure development, and integration into the global economy. It is substantiated that modern approaches to reconstruction involve not only recovery but also structural transformation of the economy based on innovation, digitalization, and increased economic resilience. Special attention is given to the “Build Back Better” conception as a tool for long-term competitiveness. It is determined that the priority directions for Ukraine’s postwar recovery include institutional reforms, investment activation, infrastructure modernization, and integration into global value chains. The study proves that the adaptation of international experience should consider war-related risks, geo-economic challenges, and structural features of the national economy. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of using the results in the formation of State economic policy and strategies for Ukraine’s postwar recovery.
