Abstract:
The article examines the practical implementation of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles by Ukrainian enterprises, analyzes their role in ensuring transformation based on the principles of sustainable development. The study aims to identify the main opportunities that enable enterprises to successfully integrate ESG approaches into the management system. The study confirms that the implementation of ESG in Ukraine is gradually evolving from compliance with external requirements to a comprehensive management philosophy that covers environmental responsibility, social engagement, transparent corporate governance and digital transformation. The factors of successful transformation of enterprises to sustainable development are determined, including strategic management, measured ESG indicators, innovations and transparency of corporate governance. The findings suggest that enterprises applying ESG practices are actively investing in energy efficiency, renewable energy, decarbonization, circular economy solutions, non-financial reporting and transparent governance arrangements. At the same time, considerable attention is paid to employee well-being, community development, inclusiveness and corporate ethics. The main criteria that ensure the efficient transformation of enterprises to sustainable development have been determined. It was found that the highest level of disclosure of CSR information is demonstrated by enterprises of the financial, pharmaceutical, energy, metallurgical and food sectors. The relationship between the level of transparency of the business environment, the efficiency of public administration and the capabilities of enterprises to implement ESG principles and ensure sustainable development has been revealed. The study emphasizes that the transformation of enterprises based on sustainable development requires the formation of opportunities, including technological modernization, innovation management, digitalization, efficient involvement of stakeholders, risk management and compliance with international standards. The main incentives of Ukrainian enterprises that implement the principles of sustainable development have been identified. It was found that enterprises that integrate ESG principles carry out a complex transformation of business processes. The characteristic features of the transformation of business processes of enterprises implementing ESG principles are highlighted.
