Abstract: The relevance of the study is driven by the growing need for new approaches to strategy development in agrarian enterprises according to ESG principles amid European integration and the lack of operational tools that would ensure the systematic integration of environmental, social, and governance practices into the business model and allow for quantitative assessment of the achieved level. The aim of the study is to develop a conceptual model for implementing an ESG strategy in agrarian enterprises based on an adapted Business Model Canvas and to form a methodological approach for assessing the ESG maturity of its components. The study used a range of methods, including system and structural-functional approaches, comparative analysis of scientific sources on ESG, sustainable and circular business models, decomposition method, as well as scorecard and integral assessment. As a result, a two-level conceptual model was proposed, which involves integrating ESG practices into the nine classic blocks of the Business Model Canvas and quantitatively assessing their ESG maturity. A dynamic matrix with 27 areas of ESG practices was created, and a formalized five-point scale was proposed for assessing their current state, along with an algorithm for calculating partial indices for the BMC blocks and an overall ESG maturity index for an agrarian enterprise, with a five-level interpretation scale. The scientific novelty lies in combining the Business Model Canvas architecture with ESG taxonomy, which allowed for detailing tasks to improve the ESG maturity of an agrarian enterprise. The developed score-integral approach to assessment makes it possible to determine the overall level of a enterprise’s ESG maturity and identify structural gaps in the integration of ESG practices into its business model. The proposed tools are recommended for agrarian enterprises to use for an initial diagnosis and identification of problem areas, to substantiate directions for ESG transformation, as well as for ongoing monitoring of changes and building an information base for prioritizing ESG initiatives and developing an ESG strategy.
