Efficiency of Agriculture of Ukraine as a Branch of the National Economy (p. 115 - 119)
The relevance of the study is determined by the lack of efficiency of Ukrainian agriculture as a sector of the national economy, quantitative and qualitative methods were used for the evaluation. The dynamics of the development of agriculture of the independent Ukraine was analyzed. A substantial decline in livestock production (cattle, pigs, and sheep) and crop (sugar beet, fruit and berries) was defined and significant reduction in livestock products such as meat, milk and wool. Meat production is unprofitable and subsidized. The positive experience in poultry breeding development was shown, which increased its poultry and egg production. In crop production the yielding of potatoes significantly increased, as well as sunflower seeds and crops that have export potential. According to the results of qualitative analysis it was concluded that there’s a lack of activity of market mechanisms in agriculture, which is manifested in the absence of correlation of productivity and profitability in the industry. Meanwhile, a significant interdependence of livestock and crop production development was revealed. According to the results of correlation and regression modeling the dependence of output on the profitability of agricultural products (meat and sugar beet) and yield (grain, potatoes, vegetables, sunflower) was revealed. Livestock farming requires improvement of the economic mechanism of management and crop production – the introduction of intensive methods of growth in crop yields, to which the volume of their production is very elastic.
